Pantone for iPhone
I know that I’m a little late getting to the party, but I need to mention my new favorite iPhone design app- myPantone. It was released back in the early Fall 2009 and I’ve been hearing friends sing it’s praises since then.
To say the least, over the last month since downloading it, I’ve used it every day. Pulling palettes together on the fly for anything from t-shirt graphics to web pages, has been really easy- Almost too easy. With access to all the Pantone system libraries, you can really get carried away.
It has some great features (as well as some glaring missing features that will hopefully be fixed in future updates). Firstly, you can assemble and save palettes that can be cross referenced through the different Pantone libraries, pulled up in RGB/HTML/and LAB values, create palettes from photographs, and shared with colleagues via email, Facebook or Twitter. A couple of downsides include the absence of CMYK values visual color correctness tied to the precision of the iPhone screen and camera (not bad though).
All in all, the program has the ability to assist you or can handily create it’s own well balanced color palettes.
It’s become a very useful tool- and for $9.99, a pretty good value too.
