Top 7 iPhone Blogging Apps
Since getting into the wonderful world of blogging, I’ve come to rely on certain programs for my computer and especially my iPhone. I wanted to share a group of apps that I particularly like.
To honestly talk to the subject of blogging apps built for the iPhone, you have to first establish on which software you blog. I’ve been very happy using WordPress for this blog, but I have friends who use Google’s Blogger and are equally satisfied. So, to each his own. It comes down to personal preferences (a lot like Mac vs Windows).
I am mentioning two apps in this article with which you can post to and manage blogs, only one of which I’ve personally used (WordPress). For the sake of covering both sides of the fence though, I feel its only right to offer my researched opinion of a Blogger option. So, with that said…
WordPress 1.31: I’ve found the app to be invaluable when on the run. From within the app you can create, edit, schedule, take and attach photos to posts. The app works seamlessly with your WordPress blog because it is designed and updated by the same open source community that creates the WordPress themes. You can view and edit the latest 10 posts on the actual blog site from within the app as well. The whole thing is easy to use.
iBlogger: Checking with Blogger-using friends and going through various reviews, I found iBlogger to be very popular and highly rated. All in all, iBlogger nicely handles all the essential blogging tasks as you would hope- writing, editing, photo posting, etc… One cool feature of iBlogger is the ability to view and edit 11 posts from your blog site, and also view them from within Safari, letting you review the real deal. Another great feature is it’s support of multiple blogging engines, including WordPress and others. Perfect for people who are running a wide range of blogs.
Best Camera 1.2: Yes, the iPhone gives you a pretty good camera to start with, but it lacks some necessary features that other developers have thankfully noticed and created apps with which to save us from the hell that was our lives. Best Camera is definitely one of those savor apps. From this little baby you can shoot, edit, apply cool easy-to-use effects, organize, share via Twitter, Facebook, and email. Not to mention that you can also post these wonderful photos in your blog. Best Camera also provides a “community” of other Best Camera users for you to check out from around the world, via the visualizer or online at http://www.thebestcamera.com.
Idea Organizer 1.1: I’ve tried quite a few productivity apps for organization and either found them a nuisance to navigate or lacking in features. I’ve recently happily settled on Idea Organizer. You are immediately comfortable with the interface and able to jump right into getting yourself together. I don’t know about you, but I’m a whole lot more productive when I take a few minutes to organize my thoughts and tasks. This app has really helped me out. The app gives you the ability to either write or speak your notes into the iPhone, log in photo ideas, reorder/edit your ideas, and share your ideas via email from within the app. Additional info and video tutorials can be found on their site at http://www.nanaimostudio.com/ideaorganizer
Tweetie 2: Admittedly, I am becoming more and more of a Twitter fan. Not that I post continuously, but I love the ability to grab quick bursts of information and move on to the next thought. It’s also fantastic for keeping up on people and organizations I’m interested in without having to dedicate a lot of time. Anyway, I digress…
Tweetie 2 seems to have it all (at least for my needs). It allows you to manage multiple Twitter accounts (personal and business?), work offline, compose with multiple attachments, edit your Twitter profile, translate tweets, URL shortening, create shared links via Safari bookmarklet, and many more.
WifiTrak 2.6: Undoubtedly from time to time you will find yourself in need of some additional bandwidth beyond what the AT&T network is offering up that day. WifiTrak scans all WiFi devices and networks in the area and advises their usability and offers a list of options sorted from best to worst. It can also notify and/or launch and requested application when a suitable network is found. Nice and simple- it does what you need. Nice.
Spell Helper 1.0: Straight to the point- I’m a bad speller and have relied too heavily on built-in spell-checking in word processing and mail programs. iPhone Mail doesn’t come close to adequately spell-checking my written mess. Enter Spell Helper to the rescue! It has a dictionary and can even transfer the spell checked message from Spell Helper directly to your mail application.

That’s fantastic. I’m very happy to have helped. Good luck with your thesis!
