Pinch | London Interior Design Studio
I came across the below folding stool one evening while perusing the many wishes and wants on Materialicious and kept the bookmark for later wishing. I just thought it was so well done- nice lines and color, and clearly well-designed and manufactured with care. Well, looking further into the people behind the stool was really an eye-opener. Pinch is a husband a wife interior design team made up of Russell Pinch and Oona Bannon.
After graduating Ravensbourne College of Design in London, Mr. Pinch became design assistant to Sir Terence Conran, later to move up to Senior Product Designer for the Conran Group. Not a bad start.
Oona came to the world of interior design via a whirlwind of various positions ranging from TV producer, luxury hotel reviewer, and Account Director at the prestigious branding agency Bloom.
A longtime favorite stop of mine in London has been Neal’s Yard Remedies in Covent Garden. When Neal’s Yard was looking to recreate their corporate headquarters, they needed to look no further than Pinch, who’s natural organic aesthetics fit right in. Very modern, but clean and natural- just like Neal’s Yard Remedies.

Hi Emma- I believe that’s the same stool. Pinch and Bannon really have a great balance of classic and contemporary in their home.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Cheers!
Andrew, I LOVE those fold away chairs with the exposure wood grain. They’re really charming and I think they’d go with any design that wasn’t too stark and over-modern. Thanks for sharing.
Is that the same stool in the top photo, just in front of the sofa?
I’m glad we share the same appreciation for great design- and thank you for visiting The First Few. Please stay in touch and let me know of other great finds out there.
Cheers,
Andrew
I think going back to basics is a common theme nowadays. Simple is best as displayed in that great stool you found. The natural pattern and colour of the wood also helps to develop that natural feel that is becoming really popular.
Pinch is a great find mate, with a very impressive history.
Thanks for the post
