Founded in 1844 by Jacob Best- later named after Frederick Pabst in 1889, Pabst has had one of the longest running American brewing success stories of any of the big US brewers. Certainly having its ups and downs, and being past from owner to owner within the even the last few years, Pabst is still going strong- and most recently being purchased on May 29, 2010 by C. Dean Metropoulos for $250 million.

The middle ground between a bottle and a can, the “snap-cap” actually used a bottle cap to seal the top- clever idea, though it must have been a bit tricky to drink from.
