Wood Metal Printer Blocks

Not vintage themselves, these image and letter printer blocks are for the most part made from vintage molds- another find along the Portobello Rd. street market.

All very pretty- they make you invent reasons to buy them.

These print blocks are mostly sold as collectible domestic artifacts, but could certainly be used in a printing press. Print blocks are also referred to as letterpress cuts or a printing dies. Along with the movable type (below), printers would add image and fancy letter print blocks to their publications for a little decorative interest.
