Chicago Structure
This past weekend was my first visit to the windy city of Chicago. To say the least, I am looking forward to going back – beautifully clean city, pleasant people, great food, and amazing architecture. No complaints from yours truly.
Street Art | Common Ground
Toronto No matter where I’ve gone, street art is always present and is most always interesting. Some is clearly created by more professional-level artists (like the one below- obviously the work of a master). Yes, I believe those are what you think they are.
Pinch | London Interior Design Studio
I came across the below folding stool one evening while perusing the many wishes and wants on Materialicious and kept the bookmark for later wishing. I just thought it was so well done- nice lines and color, and clearly well-designed and manufactured with care. Well, looking further into the people behind the stool was really [...]
Ponoko | Laser-Cut Design Manufacturing
Wooden bank by WoodMarvels Hailed by some as the future of manufacturing, laser-cut manufacturing is being made accessible to the masses by the guys at Ponoko via the convenience of your own computer. Although Ponoko is based in Wellington New Zealand (with an outpost in California), by uploading one’s own product designs to the Ponoko [...]
Istanbul | Textures and Tastes
The view from my hotel room window at the Marmara Pera- a great angle from which to see the waterway called the Golden Horn.
ACDC vs IRON MAN | Architectural Projection Mapping
First, a little thrill shooting with ACDC. And then something more beautifully cerebral for your day. ACDC Vs Iron Man 2 – Architectural Projection Mapping on Rochester Castle from seeper on Vimeo.
Iron Works | New York City Foundries
As you can note from the small stamp in the lower right, the above ironwork is imported from a foundry in India- not the case for most of the last century. Most of us think of Pittsburgh as being the only home of US steel, but New York City was actually the base for many [...]
Nightwood Studio
Miner Chair For Brooklyn-based furniture and interior design studio Nightwood, everything old is wonderfully new again. Co-designers and owners Myriah Scruggs and Nadia Yaron create one-of-a-kind, all natural, hand-built, furniture and textiles. But this work is not just designed and created. Each piece is built from salvaged, dismantled, and reconstructed vintage furniture and found items.
The Old with The New
Barcelona Please excuse the unintentional travel blog feel of this post. There are so many beautiful things to see in old cities. A lot of these “things” are of what physically makes up the city itself. Old buildings, walls, and streets all show the city’s historical blueprint. Nowadays, especially in our relatively young US cities, [...]
Niche Modern
I don’t know what it is about Beacon, New York these days. This is the second post this month about a great business based out of Beacon (and another glass blower at that). A little while back, an interior designer friend of mine told me about Niche Modern and I’ve been dying to run up [...]
