Hang Tags | Collections

Written by Andrew Payne on September 6, 2010
Collecting, Design, Fashion, Graphics, Packaging

Hang Tags come in every shape and size imaginable. They are the elements of retail products that get little fanfare but are labored over by graphic artists with the hope of catching a customer’s attention, inform the customer of the amazing attributes of the garment, and generally create a little billboard for some brand recognition. Alphabet Chest

Written by Andrew Payne on August 27, 2010
Design, Furniture

For someone who loves old printer’s blocks and letterpress, I found this chest of drawers of particular interest. A little loud, yes, but I feel like it could find a happy home in a comfortably cluttered room. As the maker’s Kent and London state on their site, “it’s the perfect place to file everything from [...]

Smoke Stack One thing you can honestly say about Eric Scheib is that the man loves to create. A very small collection of some vintage labels I photographed while out at the Levi Strauss archives in San Francisco. Please accept my apologies for the quality of some of the photos- the security guard was getting suspicious (actually, just my shoddy photography work).

British Balls

Written by Andrew Payne on July 31, 2010
Design, Sport, Travel

Cricket balls are composed mostly as traditional American baseballs are, with a cork center covered with stitched leather, which attribute to the familiar crack when ball meets bat.  The above red cricket balls (mixed in with softball, baseball and other various “balls”) are mainly used for practice as they are made with only 2 sections [...]

The Colors of Portobello

Written by Andrew Payne on July 27, 2010
Design, Travel

Notting Hill is always a destination for me whenever I’m in London. And the Portobello Road street market, itself being in the Notting Hill district, is not to be missed while there. Although I remember it being more of an adventure in my first trips, it’s nevertheless always a source of new inspiration and interesting [...]
