Pointer Shoes | Treat Your Feet
I found my first pair of Pointer footwear last Spring at American Rag in L.A. and have been nuts over them ever since. They’ve been on my feet so often that I’ll be ready for a replacement pair soon enough. (I’ve probably subconsciously expedited their demise so I wouldn’t feel guilty getting another pair).
Vintage Levi’s Shirts
What actually determines something is “vintage” is often debatable, but there is no denying the authenticity of these shirts. The genuine articles, these are. (What Goes Around, Comes Around would give their left leg for a 5 minute shopping spree in here). Photographed at the Levi Strauss archives in San Francisco- same day in fact [...]
Grahame Fowler Menswear New York | The Find
Grahame Fowler’s menswear shop is the kind of find that makes you stop and say “how come I didn’t know about this before”, when you happen upon it. Only open since last summer, I don’t feel too awful for just now learning about it (to be honest, my friend Michael of Wonderland gave me the [...]
Odin New York Menswear Shops
Odin in the West Village It’s always worth noting when you come across a shop that is run by a staff as nice as the clothes they sell. A lot of times it seems that the attitude grows exponentially with a shop’s price tags. Not the case at the Odin shops in NYC. Both the [...]
Muck Boots
The Chore With the weather being as it has been over the last couple months, you need to have dependable footwear. Just yesterday, I spent 6 hours kicking a shovel into the mud and brush slopping through the continued spill-off of the recent rainstorms. My 7 year old Muck Boots were with me the whole [...]
c.1930′s-40′s Depression Era Feedsacks
The later half of the 1800′s saw the introduction of farm and food products being shipped in cotton sacks. Usually made from 100% cotton plain weaves, varying in thickness, depending on the contents weight. The ones I’ve collected here are all from farm products, in a standardized 100 lb. capacity size. I found these at [...]
Levi’s “Nevada” Jean c.1880
Back view of the “Nevada” Jean Not too long ago, I had the pleasure of visiting the Levi Strauss archives in their San Francisco headquarters and was treated to an inspection of the oldest existing pair of jeans. Called the “Nevada” jean, due to it’s discovery at the bottom of a Nevada mine shaft in [...]
Birth of a T-Shirt
The End Product The creation of a t-shirt is a simple way to illustrate the design process within a company. The picture above is of the finished product hanging in the shop, ready for the consumer to come in and take home (to cherish forever!).
Ties on the Hill-side
I used to wear ties all the time while in college. Actually, I worked for a tie designer after school who paid me in ties. Needless to say, that ended within a short time. As much as I liked having a never-ending supply of ties, convincing AT&T to accept a handful for my monthly bill [...]
